When “Family Values” Don't Include Their Own.
The Texas lawmaker who helped ban abortion is accused of paying for abortions during 17-year affair.
Giovanni Capriglione, the Texas Republican who helped craft the state’s extreme abortion ban, has been accused of paying for multiple abortions during a 17-year affair with an exotic dancer.
Yes, the same man who pushed through a law with no exceptions for rape or incest allegedly made those very exceptions for himself. Oh, SO convenient.
The allegations come from Alex Grace, who shared her story in a 25-minute video interview with the far-right outlet Current Revolt. According to her, Capriglione personally paid for at least two abortions during their nearly two-decade relationship.
This timeline overlaps with both his time in office and his loud public crusade against reproductive rights.
The Architect of Texas’s Abortion Ban
Capriglione, who represents Southlake, was a key driver of House Bill 1280, the 2021 law that outlawed nearly all abortions in Texas. That bill became enforceable after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, triggering one of the most punishing anti-abortion laws in the country.
All while Texans have been living with the fallout of forced pregnancies, criminalized miscarriages, and women airlifted across state lines, Capriglione was allegedly living by a different set of rules behind closed doors.
He has admitted to the affair but denies ever paying for an abortion.
Still, the timing is hard to ignore: just days before the allegations surfaced, Capriglione quietly announced he would not seek re-election in 2026.
Not Just Hypocrisy — Policy Violence
Capriglione isn’t just some backbencher caught in a scandal. He’s still actively participating in the current Texas special legislative session, which is focused on redistricting efforts designed to keep Republicans in power.
This isn’t just about one man’s personal issues.
It’s about the weaponization of morality by politicians who hold others to brutal legal standards they refuse to apply to themselves. Capriglione helped enforce a law that punishes survivors of rape and incest, while allegedly using his own power and privilege to avoid those same consequences.
The hypocrisy isn’t an accident.
It’s the strategy.

These guys are un f***ing believable. The hypocrisy is astounding. He is the author of a law, that bans abortion in every circumstance, while he himself (a Christian …cough) is having an affair with an exotic
It’s just unreal how he can act like the orange buffoon , pay for abortions, while passing laws that punish a young girl, by having to carry a baby to term even if she was sexually assaulted by her dad.
That’s disgusting and despicable. I don’t understand how people don’t see past their blinders?!?!?! Abortion is healthcare for women. In the scenario above, the young girl was just traumatized by being raped and then can’t get an abortion. She has to be traumatized 9 more months carrying a baby that will most likely have deformities because the girls father, IS the father.
That’s abhorrent and utterly disgusting!
We need to get out of this Project 2025 mess and get democrats (ones that will fight) back into the house, senate, and presidency and codify abortion into law.
P.S. You write great articles.
The hypocrisy of Republicans is beyond the pale.
